The term autonomous sensory meridian response, ASMR for short, refers to the experience of a tingling sensation on the skin that is triggered by close personal attention, acoustic stimuli or light touches of the head. Inspired by ASMR, composer-performers Stellan Veloce and Neo Hülcker have developed a practice of intimate ear-playing, taking place in the atmosphere of a personal encounter between performer and visitor. EAR ACTION makes the uncertain transition between aural and tactile experience tangible and moves between musical composition, performance and treatment.
